Nitish Kumar Dissolves Cabinet Ahead Of Exit From Bihar Leadership

On Tuesday, Nitish Kumar dissolved his Cabinet, signalling a major political transition in the state and paving the way for a new government. The decision followed his final Cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat earlier in the day.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with ministers and senior officials.

During the meeting, Nitish Kumar informed colleagues about his decision to step down from his position. The interaction carried an emotional tone, with ministers recalling their long association under his leadership. He also met members of the Cabinet individually, acknowledging their contributions.

Addressing the gathering, Nitish Kumar said, “This is a deeply emotional moment. I am now heading to Delhi, but I will continue to keep a watchful eye on everything from there,” indicating his continued interest in the state’s development.

A group photograph was taken after the meeting, marking the closing moments of his tenure in office.

Nitish Kumar is expected to submit his resignation to the Governor later in the day, which will formally end his term and initiate the process of forming a new administration in Bihar. He will likely move to national politics after taking the oath as a Rajya Sabha member.

Despite stepping down from the state leadership, his role in shaping Bihar’s political direction is likely to remain influential.

Nitish Kumar has led Bihar for nearly two decades. His exit represents a significant turning point. It brings an end to a long phase of governance and opens a new chapter in his political career.
