NIA Seized Vehicle in 2022 Haryana IED Confiscation Investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took action on Wednesday by confiscating a vehicle in connection with a 2022 case involving the seizure of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), arms, and ammunition in Haryana, according to an official spokesperson. The car was apprehended at Bastara Toll Plaza in the Madhuban area of Haryana in May 2022, and it was associated with four individuals linked to the Pakistan-based “listed terrorist” Harwinder Singh Sandhu, also known as Rinda, the spokesperson revealed.

The vehicle, identified by registration number PB29R-8889, has been seized by the NIA under the provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, considering it as “proceeds of terrorism.” The NIA had initiated the case after taking over the investigation from the Haryana Police on May 24, 2022.

On May 5, 2022, the Haryana Police discovered three IEDs, a pistol with two magazines, and Rs 1.30 lakh in cash from Gurpreet Singh (alias Gopi), Amandeep Singh (alias Deepa), Parminder Singh (alias Pinder), and Bhupinder Singh. These individuals had concealed the terror-related materials in a specially designed compartment in their Innova MUV with the intention of delivering them to Adilabad, Telangana, following the instructions of Rinda, a leader of the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

During investigations, it was revealed that the accused had received multiple shipments of arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics sent by terrorist Sandhu (Rinda) from Pakistan through drones. The deliveries were made at pre-determined locations near the Indo-Pak border.
