NIA Apprehends Two Canada-Based ‘Listed Terrorists’ At Delhi Airport Upon Arrival

Two key associates of Arsh Dala, a Canada-based “listed terrorist,” were apprehended by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) upon their arrival at Delhi airport from the Philippines. Manpreet Singh, also known as “Peeta,” and Mandeep Singh were closely associated with Dala and held non-bailable arrest warrants for various terror-related activities, including threats, intimidation, terror funding, and carrying out acts of terror. Originally from Punjab, they resided in Manila, Philippines, and were detained by an NIA team at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Investigations revealed that the duo had conspired to raise funds for the banned terrorist organization Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and engaged in smuggling arms, ammunition, and explosives for the group from across the border. They were also implicated in recruiting youths for violent and terror activities as directed by KTF. The spokesperson noted that Dala, operating from Canada for several years, employed them in executing multiple killings in Punjab.

Peeta and Singh were part of an extensive extortion network to gather funds for KTF and Dala. Their modus operandi involved identifying targets, including businessmen, and coercing them to pay substantial amounts through threats. The NIA had previously issued non-bailable warrants against them in a case related to the activities of pro-Khalistan terrorist organizations in India.

Both individuals also faced criminal cases registered against them in Punjab. The NIA initiated a case on August 20 the previous year, taking action against the activities of banned terrorist organizations within India, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The agency’s efforts included thwarting attempts to smuggle arms, ammunition, explosives, and raising funds for terrorist acts within the country.
