Mahakavi Gopal Das ‘Neeraj’, a celebrated poet and songwriter, will be remembered on the occasion of his sixth death anniversary with a special ‘Neeraj Samman Samaroh’. This ceremony, organized by Bharat Express Chairman Upendrra Rai and Gopal Das Neeraj’s son Mrigank Prabhakar, will take place on 19 July 2024 at 06:30 pm at the Press Club of India in New Delhi.
The event will feature notable figures such as Bollywood musician and storyteller Javed Akhtar, along with film actor Annu Kapoor, both of whom will participate in honoring the late poet. The ceremony is expected to attract poets and musicians from across the country.

Mahakavi Gopal Das ‘Neeraj’, born on 4 January 1925 in Puravali village, Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, made significant contributions to literature and film. He was awarded the Padma Shri and later the Padma Bhushan for his literary achievements, and also received the Filmfare Award three times consecutively for best songwriting in films. His legacy continues to be celebrated through events like the ‘Neeraj Samman Samaroh’, ensuring that his contributions to poetry and music are remembered and honored.
