Maha Navami 2026: Devotees Flock To Temples Across India To Worship Maa Siddhidatri

Devotees thronged temples across India on Monday to celebrate Maha Navami, the ninth and final day of Shardiya Navratri.

Worshippers offered prayers to Goddess Durga and sought blessings for prosperity, happiness and family well-being.

Temples witnessed large gatherings as devotional chants, ringing bells and special rituals marked the auspicious occasion.

In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, devotees visited the famous Maa Siddhidatri Devi Temple to worship the ninth form of Goddess Durga.

Priest Bachcha Lal Mishra told IANS that devotees who missed worshipping the other forms during Navratri could seek the blessings of all nine goddesses through Maa Siddhidatri’s darshan on Maha Navami.

In New Delhi, worshippers gathered at the prominent Jhandewalan Temple to offer prayers and participate in religious ceremonies.

In Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, thousands of devotees visited Mata Tekri and offered prayers at the Chamunda Mata and Tulja Bhawani temples. Many attended the morning aarti, while others crawled on their knees towards the shrines to fulfil religious vows.

Devotees revere the ancient Chamunda Mata Temple as a Rakta Peeth, believing that Goddess Sati’s blood fell at the site.

Mukesh Nath, a priest at the Tulja Bhawani Mata Temple, highlighted the shrine’s spiritual significance. He said that the goddess was self-manifested and described the site as unique.

Devotees gathered at the Maa Sharda Shaktipeeth shrine atop Trikuta Hill to mark Maha Navami.

The temple featured yellow and red decorations, while worshippers performed traditional rituals dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri.

Maha Navami honours Maa Siddhidatri, whom devotees associate with wisdom, spiritual fulfilment and divine accomplishments.

Worshippers perform special pujas and aartis, observe fasts and conduct Kanya Pujan, a ritual that honours young girls as manifestations of the divine feminine.
