The Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifted a critically ill 30-year-old civilian from Leh to Delhi for emergency medical treatment, overcoming darkness and challenging weather conditions.
The IAF shared details of the late-night evacuation in a post on X on Sunday.
An Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J aircraft undertook a short-notice casualty evacuation late at night, airlifting a critically ill 30 years old civilian patient from Leh to Palam for further medical care.
The mission was carried out in darkness and challenging weather conditions, requiring a high degree of operational preparedness, professional coordination and timely execution. The patient was subsequently transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for further treatment.
The mission reflects the IAF’s operational readiness and its ability to respond promptly to critical humanitarian requirements, including medical evacuation under challenging conditions.

An IAF C-130J aircraft flew the patient from Leh to Palam airbase on short notice.
The Western Air Command said the mission required operational readiness, professional coordination and timely execution due to difficult weather and low visibility.
After the aircraft reached Palam, a waiting ambulance transported the patient to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for further treatment.
The IAF said the evacuation demonstrated its ability to respond swiftly to urgent humanitarian needs, including medical emergencies in difficult terrain and weather conditions.
In a separate development, Air Force Station Ambala organised an exhibition of the IAF’s operational capabilities to mark the 94th Air Force Day.
According to the Western Air Command, the event showcased military equipment and operational resources.
Students and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from nearby schools and colleges attended the programme to learn about the force’s capabilities, technological advancements and operational preparedness.
Personnel from the IAF, local civil administration, Military Engineer Services (MES), police, civil medical services and higher educational institutions participated.
The Western Air Command described the event as an inter-services integration and outreach initiative. It said such programmes strengthen engagement with young people and encourage future generations to serve the nation.
