Nation Remembers Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose As Leaders Mark Parakram Diwas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led the nation in paying homage to legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary.

India observes the day each year as Parakram Diwas. It honours Bose’s courage, revolutionary spirit, and lifelong commitment to the freedom struggle.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister described Netaji as a deep personal inspiration. He highlighted Bose’s indomitable resolve and fearless leadership, which continue to guide generations.

Recalling his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, PM Modi referred to the launch of the e-Gram Vishwagram Yojana on January 23, 2009. The initiative was launched from Haripura, a place closely linked to Netaji’s life and legacy.

“The programme was launched from Haripura, which holds a special connection with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose,” PM Modi said. He also remembered the warm reception and procession organised by locals along the same route once travelled by the freedom icon. He described the moment as unforgettable, underscoring Bose’s lasting emotional bond with the people.

Leaders Across India Pay Tribute

Union Home Minister Amit Shah honoured Netaji as one of the greatest sons of Mother India. He highlighted Bose’s extraordinary determination and noted how he travelled across continents and endured immense hardship to liberate the nation. Shah said Bose’s sacrifices would continue to inspire generations to uphold national honour and self-respect.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid tribute, remembering Netaji as the founder of the Azad Hind Fauj and a towering figure in India’s freedom movement. He extended greetings to citizens on Parakram Diwas.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Netaji as a true patriot. He recalled Bose’s iconic call, “You give me blood, I will give you freedom,” which energised the freedom movement. Adityanath said Bose’s courage, valour, and selfless dedication reshaped India’s struggle for independence.

Parakram Diwas is observed annually on January 23 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The occasion reinforces the enduring values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism that continue to guide the nation.
