N. Biren Singh Held Responsible For Manipur Violence By BJP Unit Of Mizoram

For peace to return to the adjoining state of Manipur, the Mizoram BJP unit has called for the imposition of President’s Rule. According to a BJP-scheduled Tribe Morcha statement, since the Manipur violence began on May 3, more over 100 people have died. The ethnic violence, it claimed, had also resulted in the burning down of at least 220 churches.

The BJP said that even in the wake of such massacres and the burning down of homes and places of worship, the majority society still attacks the minority. It advised controlling the violence before it turned into a significant social and religious conflict.

BJP-aligned tribal Morcha holds N. Biren Singh responsible for the Manipur Violence

The N. Biren Singh-led Manipur administration was also blamed by the BJP-aligned tribal Morcha for the racial unrest. In order to restore peace in the state, it asked that the current Manipur administration be overthrown and President’s Rule be imposed as soon as possible.

According to the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), a coalition of significant Kuki-Hmar-Mizo-Zomi civil society organisations, at least 106 tribal members have died in the ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities. According to the forum, there have been as many as 262 churches burned down, along with 93 church administrative buildings and quarters.
