Monsoon Session Of Parliament To Run From 21 July To 12 August

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that the Monsoon Session of Parliament will begin on 21 July and end on 12 August.

On the first day, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will assemble at 11 AM, marking the first parliamentary meeting in over three months.

The session will likely witness intense political debates, especially as the Opposition has been pressing hard for a special session.

Earlier on Tuesday, 16 opposition parties wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an urgent session to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the government’s response, Operation Sindoor, a military action targeting 9 terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In reply, the government formalised the schedule for the Monsoon Session, assuring that all concerns, including those raised by the Opposition, will addressed during the upcoming sittings.

The Budget Session earlier this year ran from 31 January to 4 April, split into two phases.

Several key bills passed during that period, including the Waqf Amendment Bill.

This legislation aims to enhance the management of waqf properties by empowering stakeholders and introducing more efficient methods for surveying, registering, and resolving related cases, as well as promoting the development of these properties.

The bill also repealed the Mussalman Wakf Act, 1923, moving towards modern governance.

In addition to this, the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill, 2025, enacted to set up a university focused on education, training, and research in the cooperative sector.

The Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, was also passed to simplify passport and travel document regulations for people entering and leaving India, as well as to regulate visa and registration requirements for foreigners.
