Mohan Charan Majhi will take oath as the first BJP Chief Minister in Odisha tomorrow on June 12. The party elected Majhi as the leader of the legislative party on Monday. The new Odisha government, which is to be formed tomorrow, is set to encompass two Deputy Chief Ministers. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida will be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.
Mohan Majhi, a prominent tribal leader in the state and a four-time MLA, is well-versed in state politics. He is renowned for his organizational skills at the age of 52.
The to-be Chief Minister of Odisha has secured the Keonjhar Assembly seat with a decent margin of over 11 thousand.
Notably, BJP swept the state in the latest Lok Sabha election, registering victory in 20 constituencies out of 21 total Parliamentary seats. The remaining one seat went to Congress. In the simultaneously held assembly elections, the BJP secured 78 seats while the Congress got 14. The legislative Assembly of Odisha has a capacity of 147 members in it.
The swearing-in ceremony in the state will take place at 5 pm tomorrow.
BJP has also invited the former Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik.
According to Vijaypal Singh Tomar, the BJP’s national observer for Odisha, Manmohan Samal, the head of the state unit, would personally invite Naveen Patnaik to the oath-taking event.
The seat tally of Naveen Patnaik’s BJP reduced by 62 from the previous assembly election.
