Meghalaya: Arizona State University Will Establish A Peace Studies Center At USTM

With the help of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), Arizona State University intends to establish a Centre for Peace Studies.

International history specialist Professor Yasmin Saikia, who holds the Hardt-Nickachos Chair in Peace Studies at Arizona State University in the United States, made the announcement.

“In spite of the select spotlight on human prosperity, whether West or East, worldwide North or worldwide South, harmony is certainly not a consistent in our lives. It’s a wish that never comes true. Research on related fields of work and social issues, civil rights, orientation and minority freedoms, evacuee concentrate, etc produce new grants on harmony history. We are thinking about fostering a Middle for Harmony Studies at the College of Science and Innovation Meghalaya (USTM), especially zeroing in on the North East and its different networks,” Prof Saikia said while tending to a studio on “Humanism, Harmony and Youth in Building Upper east India,” at USTM.

Besides, Prof Saikia, who hails from Assam, thought upon “individuals’ tranquility”, an idea created by Arizona State College.

She referred to the Assamese concept of “xanmihali,” explaining that xanmihali was an alchemical process in the history of Assam that resulted in a fusion of cultures developed by various groups over time.

Through xanmihali, the Ahom kings brought about positive peace in the region. In any case, xanmihali ought not be mistaken for hybridity, yet it is a limit of making a chance of ceaselessly growing the restrictions of consideration,” the history specialist said.
