Mayawati Demands Action Against Bullying of Dalit Families in Bijnor District

Lucknow : Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has called for accountability against those involved in harassing Dalit families in Mukhtiyapur village of Najibabad, Bijnor district. Taking to social media on Tuesday, she condemned the attack and urged the government to take stringent action.

In her statement, Mayawati highlighted the incident where several individuals were injured in an assault on Dalit families by feudal elements in Mukhtyarpur village. She emphasized the importance of invoking the SC/ST Act against the perpetrators to maintain the sanctity of the electoral atmosphere. Mayawati also urged the Election Commission to take immediate notice of the situation.

According to reports, the confrontation occurred during Holi celebrations on Monday, sparked by a minor dispute between two factions in the village. Both groups resorted to gunfire, resulting in multiple injuries. One individual, identified as Pradeep, sustained a severe neck injury.

Upon receiving information, a police team led by station in-charge Rajendra Singh Pundir promptly arrived at the scene. Pundir confirmed that reports had been filed from both parties and additional security forces had been deployed in the village to restore order.
