Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who introduced patriotic themes in Hindi cinema, passed away on Friday after a prolonged illness. His last rites took place on Saturday in Mumbai at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle.

The hospital transferred Kumar’s mortal remains from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute to his residence in Goswami Towers at 10:00 am. The final rites began with full state honors, and the actor received a Guard of Honour, recognizing his immense contribution to Indian cinema.

Family members and staff arranged floral decorations at the residence. An ambulance, decorated with tri-colour flowers symbolizing the national flag, carried his mortal remains to the crematorium.

Prominent figures from the film industry attended the funeral to pay their respects. Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arbaaz Khan, Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, Vindu Dara Singh, Anu Malik, and Dheeraj Kumar were among the attendees.

Manoj Kumar’s son, Kunal Goswami, spoke about the emotional loss of his father. He revealed that his father had been unwell for some time but passed away peacefully. “We prayed for his pain to ease. The doctors and staff supported him a lot, but he left us peacefully,” Goswami shared. He also recalled waking up early to find his father unwell, but he was thankful that his father left this world with dignity and calm.

Manoj Kumar’s passing marks the loss of a cinematic legend. His iconic films, especially those centered on patriotism, will continue to inspire future generations.
