Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam has backed the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, calling it a step in national interest and stating that opposing it amounts to treason.
“Opposing a decision taken in national interest is also called treason. Patriotic leaders must welcome the Waqf Amendment Bill with an open heart,” Krishnam said on social media.
His statement comes as debate grows around the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025.
The bill proposes reforms to the management of Waqf properties.
The government says the bill brings transparency. Critics fear it may harm minority rights.
Krishnam had attacked the Congress leadership after his expulsion last year.
The party removed him for anti-party activities. Since then, he has often criticized Rahul Gandhi and his team.
Krishnam also questioned Priyanka Gandhi’s absence from the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
“Sachin Pilot is walking with Rahul Gandhi. But he’s doing it while bearing insults and swallowing poison like Lord Shiv,” he said.
He accused Congress of insulting loyal leaders. He claimed the party was weakening from the inside. His support for the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 adds pressure on the opposition.
The bill continues to spark strong political reactions. Krishnam’s words are likely to fuel more debate.
