Delhi Capitals extended their unbeaten streak in IPL 2025 with a 25-run win over Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. This marked DC’s first victory in Chepauk since 2010 and helped them climb to the top of the points table.
Batting first, Delhi posted a solid total of 183/6. KL Rahul, opening in place of an unfit Faf du Plessis, led the charge with a fluent 77. Abishek Porel supported him with a useful 33. Despite a late slowdown, DC’s total proved more than sufficient.
CSK Top Order Struggles Early
Chennai’s chase began poorly. Rachin Ravindra fell to Mukesh Kumar for 3. Mitchell Starc removed Ruturaj Gaikwad with a short delivery. Then, Vipraj Nigam dismissed Devon Conway with a deceptive googly. CSK were restricted to 46/3 at the end of the powerplay.
The pressure continued in the middle overs. Shivam Dube was caught at long-on for 18. Ravindra Jadeja fell lbw to Kuldeep Yadav for 2. The pitch slowed down, and boundaries dried up.
Vijay Shankar played a lone hand with an unbeaten 69 off 54 balls. He was dropped twice and narrowly escaped a run-out. MS Dhoni joined him with a late cameo of 30* off 26 balls, thrilling fans with some clean hits.
However, the effort came too late. CSK ended at 158/5, falling short by 25 runs. Vipraj Nigam starred with the ball, taking 2-27. Every DC bowler, barring Mohit Sharma and Axar Patel, claimed a wicket.
Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 campaign remains flawless as they handed CSK their second consecutive home defeat and asserted their dominance this season.
