Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Shares Inspiring Stories Of Community Living From Gujarat, J&K

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India’s true strength lies in its enduring traditions of community living, strong family bonds, and collective responsibility, which often go unnoticed amid mainstream attention.

In the 130th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi highlighted extraordinary examples of social harmony and solidarity across the country.

He said these instances showcase India’s core values, where togetherness forms the foundation of society.

Focusing on Gujarat, the Prime Minister spoke about Chandanki village in Beharaji, where residents follow a 15-year-old tradition of collective dining.

The village cooks food for everyone in a common kitchen, and villagers sit together to eat.

He added that the community also runs a tiffin service to deliver meals to those who fall ill, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and family.

PM Modi noted that such traditions attract global admiration.

He also mentioned that the UAE has declared 2026 as the Year of the Family to strengthen harmony and community spirit, calling the initiative commendable.

Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister shared the story of Sheikhgund village in Anantnag, where a local resident united youth and elders to curb the sale of tobacco and increase awareness about drugs and addiction.

PM Modi also lauded organisations engaged in long-term social service, citing Vivekananda Lok Shiksha Niketan in West Bengal.

For four decades, the organisation has provided education through the Gurukul system, cared for children and the elderly, and carried out broader social welfare work.

He expressed hope that this spirit of selfless service continues to grow across the country, inspiring citizens to strengthen social cohesion, uphold family values, and contribute actively to their communities.
