PM Modi Praises Young Citizens For Protecting Environment Across India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised India’s youth for their increasing awareness of cleanliness and environmental protection.

Speaking during the 130th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, he said, “I am proud to see that our youth are very conscious about the cleanliness around them.”

Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi shared that young residents in Itanagar organised campaigns to clean public spaces.

The initiative soon expanded to towns including Naharlagun, Doimukh, Seppa, Palin, and Pasighat, collectively removing over 11 lakh kilograms of waste.

He cited Nagaon in Assam, where locals united to clean streets, demonstrating the power of collective action.

In Bengaluru, professionals addressed issues of bulky waste, while several cities now maintain dedicated teams to recycle landfill material, with Chennai emerging as a notable example.

PM Modi emphasised that change does not always require large campaigns or organisations. “Often, change begins with one person, one area, one step. Small, sustained efforts can bring about significant impact,” he said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Benoy Das from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, who has planted thousands of trees single-handedly.

He coordinated with local communities, students, and municipal bodies to enhance greenery along roadsides, often funding the initiative himself.

PM Modi encouraged citizens to continue contributing individually and collectively, reinforcing that every effort in cleanliness and environmental protection strengthens communities.

He underlined that small, persistent actions can create meaningful change, ensuring a cleaner, greener, and sustainable future for India.
