Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Calls For Balancing AI With India’s Heritage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India must embrace rapid technological advancements while remaining rooted in its civilisational heritage.

Speaking during the 135th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi stressed the importance of preserving human creativity and traditional knowledge alongside the growing influence of artificial intelligence.

The Prime Minister said the world is witnessing unprecedented technological progress, with new AI innovations emerging every day. He emphasised that while technology is transforming society, it is equally important to safeguard creativity and maintain a strong connection with India’s cultural and intellectual traditions.

PM Modi praised Nalanda University for reviving the tradition of Shaastraarth through its convocation ceremony, calling it a successful blend of India’s ancient heritage and modern education. He urged other universities to adopt similar initiatives.

PM Modi also highlighted a major academic initiative by the Central Sanskrit University in Delhi, which is launching a B Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. He described it as a significant step towards integrating cutting-edge technology with India’s traditional knowledge systems.

According to the Prime Minister, the programme will support the development of AI tools for Indian languages while accelerating the digitisation and preservation of ancient texts and manuscripts. He said the initiative would equip young people with modern technological skills without disconnecting them from the country’s cultural heritage.

Congratulating both institutions, PM Modi said their efforts demonstrate how India can combine innovation with tradition to build a knowledge-driven future while preserving its timeless intellectual legacy.
