Man Playfully Challenges ChatGPT To Mimic Shashi Tharoor’s Writing Style For ‘Approved,’ MP Not Impressed

In a light-hearted exchange on X, a user named Devash engaged ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, in a playful experiment. The user sought to mimic the distinctive writing style of Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP, Shashi Tharoor, by asking how he would express “approved” in his characteristic manner.

ChatGPT responded with a whimsical and elaborate rendition: “Shashi Tharoor, known for his eloquent and sophisticated writing style, might express ‘approved’ in a more ornate and nuanced manner. Here’s how he might write it: ‘In due deference to the matter at hand, it is my esteemed privilege to affirm that the proposition in question has garnered the imprimatur of the relevant authorities, thereby conferring upon it the immeasurable distinction of having been formally endorsed and sanctioned.'”

Shashi Tharoor himself humorously chimed in on the post, revealing a more practical approach in his official communications by simply writing “approved.”

This lighthearted exchange garnered significant attention on X, amassing over 3 lakh views. Social media users joined in the fun, with one quipping that even a large language model like GPT would find it challenging to emulate Tharoor’s unique style.

The post also sparked discussions about Tharoor’s propensity for using complex vocabulary. Some users praised the AI’s attempt, while others delved into the legal implications of such verbose language in official documents.

Shashi Tharoor, known for his wit, had previously shared the challenges foreigners face when pronouncing the name of his constituency, Thiruvananthapuram. He suggested an alternative name, Ananthapuri, for the capital city in a post on his X handle. This came in response to a viral video showing South African cricket players struggling to pronounce the city’s name correctly.
