Lucknow Coaching Centre Fire: Amit Shah Expresses Deep Sorrow

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the fire at a coaching centre in Lucknow’s Aliganj area.

In a post on X, Shah described the incident as extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. He conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, prayed for strength for the bereaved families to bear the loss, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the fire.

According to reports, at least 15 people, including 12 men and three women, lost their lives in the fire.

The blaze reportedly broke out at a coaching centre operating inside a three-storey building in Aliganj’s Purniya area.

Thick smoke quickly engulfed the premises and triggered panic among those inside.

Several people sustained serious injuries after jumping from the upper floors and the terrace in an attempt to escape.

Fire personnel, police and administrative officials launched rescue and evacuation operations, while residents also assisted in the rescue efforts. Hospitals admitted several injured persons for treatment.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and rescue and relief operations are continuing.
