Other states such as West Bengal (33.56%), Meghalaya (33.12%), and Madhya Pradesh (30.56%) are also witnessing high participation rates. Conversely, Lakshadweep has the lowest turnout at 16.33% by 11 am.

Comparatively, the voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections stood at over 67%. In an incident earlier today, the BJP lodged a complaint with the Election Commission regarding a polling agent being denied entry into a booth in the Coochbehar constituency.

The first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 commenced at 7:00 am across 102 parliamentary constituencies spanning 21 states and Union Territories. Polling will continue until 6:00 pm. The Election Commission has set up a total of 1.87 lakh polling stations, with 18 lakh personnel deployed across the constituencies.
