In a significant counter-terror operation on 7 May, Indian airstrikes inside Pakistan eliminated five high-ranking terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The strikes, part of India’s calibrated response to recent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically targeted those directly responsible for orchestrating violence on Indian soil.
One of the most prominent figures killed was Mudassar Khadian Khas, also known as Abu Jundal, a top Lashkar-e-Taiba operative. He served as the in-charge of Markaz Taiba in Muridke. His death marked a serious blow to LeT’s leadership.
The Pakistan Army reportedly accorded Mudassar a full state funeral. A guard of honour was given, and wreaths were laid on behalf of Pakistan Army Chief and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Hafiz Abdul Rauf of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a designated global terrorist, led his funeral prayer at a government school.
High-ranking officials, including a serving Lieutenant General and the IG of Punjab Police, attended the ceremony.
Two senior JeM figures, both related to the group’s founder Maulana Masood Azhar, were also killed.
The strikes also took out Khalid, alias Abu Akasha, a Lashkar terrorist involved in multiple attacks in Kashmir and weapons smuggling from Afghanistan.
His funeral in Faisalabad was attended by top military brass and the Deputy Commissioner of the city.

Additionally, Mohammad Hassan Khan, son of JeM’s PoK operational commander Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, was killed.
Khan had a crucial role in coordinating JeM’s attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
India’s 7 May strikes demonstrated surgical precision and intelligence-based targeting.
By eliminating key figures across both terror outfits, New Delhi has signalled zero tolerance towards cross-border terrorism.
The operation marks a significant step in disrupting terror infrastructure and sends a strong diplomatic and strategic message to Islamabad.
