RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party for six years. He cited ‘immoral and irresponsible behaviour’ and failure to uphold the family’s values and traditions as reasons for the decision.
This dramatic move came a day after Tej Pratap posted a video on Facebook.
In the video, he revealed that he had been in a relationship with a woman named Anushka Yadav for the past 12 years.
Subsequently, Lalu Yadav issued a post on X stating, “Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice.”
He further added that Tej Pratap’s actions, conduct, and public behaviour did not align with the family’s ethos.
“Therefore, I removed him from the party and family. From now on, he will not hold any position in either,” Lalu declared.
Moreover, Lalu stated, “Tej Pratap has been expelled for six years. Those who continue to maintain ties with him should decide for themselves. I have always stood for propriety in public life. The obedient members of the family have embraced this principle.”
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap’s younger brother and former Bihar Deputy CM, confirmed the break in family and political ties.
He said, “I have no relation with Tej Pratap now. RJD President Lalu Yadav has taken the decision and shared it publicly.”
Tejashwi Yadav added, “Whatever he does in personal life is entirely his own decision. He neither takes advice nor seeks permission from anyone.”
The development has caused a political stir in Bihar, highlighting deep divisions within the Yadav family at a crucial time for the party.
