Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday delivered a blistering speech in Siwan. He targeted RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Mahagathbandhan. The Minister alleged that the Opposition aims to return Bihar to the ‘Jungle Raj’ era.
Addressing a large gathering, Shah said he chose to begin his outreach in Siwan because of its deep historical and political significance.
He further accused Lalu Prasad Yadav of attempting to restore fear in the state by nominating the son of former RJD strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin.
“Lalu Yadav has proven by giving a ticket to Shahabuddin’s son that he wants to bring back the Jungle Raj to Bihar. The people of Siwan know very well how Shahabuddin drenched this land in blood with 75 heinous murders. By nominating his son, Lalu Yadav wants to intimidate the people again. This clearly shows that the Mahagathbandhan wants to take Bihar back into the darkness of lawlessness, while the NDA, by fielding Anand Mishra (Retired IPS), is leading the state towards good governance,” Shah stated.
The Minister asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the NDA would return to power after the 14 November elections.
“Lalu Prasad’s son will face a complete defeat on 14 November. Nitish Kumar has put Bihar back on track, and for the past 10 years, Narendra Modi has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Biharis,” he declared.
Recalling Siwan’s turbulent past, Shah said the district had once lived under fear during Shahabuddin’s dominance.
“The people of Siwan suffered immensely during the Jungle Raj, but never bowed down. They ended that dark rule once, and today I want to assure them — this is Modi and Nitish’s Bihar. Even if a hundred Shahabuddins come, they can’t harm anyone now,” the Minister noted.
Drawing cheers from the crowd, he added, “You’ve just celebrated Diwali, you’ll soon celebrate Chhath Puja, but the real Diwali will be on November 14, when Lalu’s son is completely defeated.”
Praising Nitish Kumar, Shah said ending the Jungle Raj was his greatest achievement.
“The end of Jungle Raj is Nitish Kumar’s biggest contribution. He freed Bihar from fear and lawlessness,” he further remarked.
Shah contrasted the NDA with past Congress-led governments. He accused Sonia Gandhi and Lalu Prasad of serving ‘biryani’ to terrorists when they were in power at the Centre.
He said the Modi government had shown resolve by launching ‘Operation Sindoor’ after the Pahalgam terror attack, striking inside Pakistan.
Seeking divine blessings, he prayed, “I pray to Chhathi Maiya to bless the people of Bihar so that Jungle Raj never returns here.”
Turning his criticism towards Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah accused him of leniency towards infiltrators.
“Rahul Gandhi says infiltrators should be allowed to stay in Bihar. You tell me — should infiltrators stay here or be thrown out? Once the NDA government returns, we will identify and expel every infiltrator from the country,” he vowed.
Paying tribute to Siwan’s legacy, Shah recalled, “This land is the land of Rajendra Babu (Dr Rajendra Prasad), India’s first President and Chairman of the Constituent Assembly. Mahatma Gandhi and Madan Mohan Malaviya also visited Siwan during their Champaran journey. I bow to this sacred soil.”
Concluding his address, Shah listed a series of alleged scams during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure, including:
“Lalu Prasad has only indulged in scams and corruption all his life. Can someone who has looted Bihar in so many ways ever do good for this state?” Shah questioned, as the crowd responded with chants backing the NDA.
