Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025, the UP government has made all possible arrangements to ensure the safety and security of devotees. Maha Kumbh in 2025 marks the most significant religious celebration, which will offer enormous commercial and economic opportunities.

Maha Kumbh is celebrated every 12 years, starting from January 13 and ending on February 26. Every year Kumbh Mela has a major positive impact on the national and state economies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Prayagraj to ensure the proper facilities in the city. He also initiated construction projects totalling Rs 5,500 crore to upgrade infrastructure for the Mela. The Maha Kumbh Mela will see millions of pilgrims and tourists in the host city. About 400-500 million tourists are anticipated to visit Prayagraj in 2025, which eventually results in significant economic activity.

Kumbh Mela 2025: How It Impacts Local Economy & Business

During Maha Kumbh Mela, the local economy and business get a boost as millions of pilgrims and tourists visit the host city. This also increases the demand for services that give options for feasible and engaging accommodation while being close to the festival venue.

Meanwhile, it also results in a hike for the tourism business with an increase in services like reservations for airways, trains and buses, generating a slew of income for all the sectors in the industry.

Apart from this, the Maha Kumbh Mela also lowers unemployment in the region by generating numerous work opportunities, both temporary and permanent. With this, small businesses and artisans have a great opportunity to sell their goods. Local businesses gain profits as the pilgrims and tourists buy large quantities of food, clothes, religious objects, and souvenirs.

Commercial & Financial Elements Of Maha Kumbh

As per a previous estimate by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Kumbh Mela held in 2019 generated an impressive revenue of ₹1.2 lakh crore.

In comparison, the Maha Kumbh of 2013 recorded total revenues of ₹12,000 crore, factoring in investments made towards infrastructure improvements like hotels and airports.
