Prayagraj: Prayagraj is creating history by planting 85 lakh trees under the ‘Plant Trees, Save Trees Jan Abhiyan 2024’, with Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya planting a sapling in the Prayagraj Chandrashekhar Azad Park complex named ‘Ek Tree Maa’. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the need to plant 36 crore 50 lakh saplings statewide today. He stressed that tree plantation not only symbolizes a ceremony but also provides life, water, and air to future generations. Maurya asserted that if rainfall patterns are disrupted, human society bears responsibility for it, and achieving this social goal should be non-negotiable.
Maurya urged public representatives and party officials to actively participate in tree planting, emphasizing the responsibility of nurturing trees like Neem, Peepal, Mahuva, and Shisham during the rainy season. He highlighted the health benefits of Neem trees and encouraged widespread planting. Maurya also suggested integrating tree planting with children’s birthday celebrations to foster a love for trees from a young age.
Describing planting trees in honor of Mother Goddesses as virtuous acts, Maurya advocated that every citizen dedicate at least one tree to Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, Saraswati, or any revered figure. He also addressed the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, underscoring its significance and addressing concerns regarding the tradition of carrying water from Prayagraj’s Dashasumedh Ghat.
During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Maurya planted Peepal, Teak, Mango, and other trees as a tribute to the revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad ji. The program took place at GIC Inter College and saw the presence of Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani, MLA Harshvardhan Bajpai, MLC Surendra Chaudhary, KP Trust President Sushil Sinha, BJP State Minister Anamika Chaudhary, BJP Metropolitan President Rajendra Mishra, Yamuna Par District President Vinod Prajapati, Regional Vice President Awadhesh Chandra, Dr. Prabhakar Tripathi Gupta, media in-charge Rajesh Kesarwani, Dilip Chaturvedi, Kunj Bihari Mishra, Devesh Singh, Varun Kesarwani, Ankush, Anil Bhatt, Vijay Srivastava, and hundreds of BJP workers attending the event.
