Kejriwal Criticizes BJP Model; Highlights AAP’s Welfare Agenda

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s governance model. He claimed public funds are lent to billionaires and later written off within 2-3 years.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Kejriwal contrasted the BJP’s approach with his party’s welfare initiatives.

He stated, “On one hand, there is the BJP model where your money is given as a loan to billionaire friends and it is waived off after 2-3 years. The other is the Aam Aadmi Party model which includes 24-hour electricity, and free electricity to the poor. 24-hour free water, best and good treatment. This is the Aam Aadmi Party’s welfare model.”

“The Bharatiya Janata Party has made it clear in different ways, through the words of different leaders, that if their government is formed, if you press the lotus button, all these facilities being provided in Delhi will be stopped because this is against their model,” he further added.

Amit Shah’s Counterattack

Speaking at a public rally in Delhi’s Tri Nagar, Amit Shah accused the former Chief Minister of breaking all promises.

Shah recalled that during Anna Hazare’s agitation, the leader pledged not to form a political party but quickly announced one before Hazare returned to Ralegaon Siddhi.

He also criticized the leader for failing to act on his promise to file a case against Sheila Dikshit.

Additionally, Shah alleged hypocrisy in rejecting government perks, claiming the leader demolished four bungalows to build a ‘sheesh mahal’.

Election Dynamics

The triangular contest between AAP, BJP, and Congress is intensifying as the 5 February elections draw near. A total of 699 candidates are vying for 70 assembly seats, with vote counting scheduled for 8 February.

AAP has been the dominant force in Delhi, winning 67 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020, while BJP managed only three and eight seats, respectively.

Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years until 2013, failed to secure a single seat in the last two elections.

The election will decide whether AAP retains its stronghold or faces a challenge from the BJP and Congress resurgence.
