‘Kashmir To Kevadia!’: PM Modi Applauds Omar Abdullah’s Visit As Symbol Of Unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for visiting Gujarat’s Sabarmati Riverfront and the Statue of Unity, saying the move conveyed ‘an important message of unity’.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Kashmir to Kevadia! Good to see Shri Omar Abdullah Ji enjoying his run at the Sabarmati Riverfront and visiting the Statue of Unity. His visit to SoU gives an important message of unity and will inspire our fellow Indians to travel to different parts of India.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks came in response to Abdullah’s own post, where he shared his experience jogging along the Sabarmati Riverfront during his two-day visit to Gujarat for a tourism promotion event.

While in #Ahmedabad for a tourism event I took advantage of being here to get my morning run at the famed Sabarmati River Front promenade. It’s one of the nicest places I’ve been able to run & it was a pleasure to get to share it with so many other walkers/runners. I even managed to run past the amazing Atal Foot Bridge,” CM Abdullah posted on X.

The visit is particularly significant as Jammu and Kashmir continues its efforts to revitalise tourism following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which had a notable impact on travel to the region.

While in Gujarat, Abdullah is meeting with tour operators and industry stakeholders to reassure travellers and promote Kashmir as a safe and welcoming destination.

“Gujarat, along with Maharashtra and West Bengal, has always played a major role in Kashmir’s tourism economy,” he noted, expressing hope that tourists from Gujarat would once again visit the region in large numbers.
