Karnataka Governor Sudha Yadav Meets PM Modi After Taking Office

Karnataka Governor Sudha Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, October 29, following her assumption of office.

The meeting marked her first interaction with the Prime Minister since taking charge of the constitutional post.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the meeting through a post on the social media platform X, stating, “Governor of Karnataka, Dr. Sudha Yadav met Prime Minister.”

No further details about the discussions between the two leaders were immediately available.

Sudha Yadav was sworn in as Karnataka’s 20th Governor at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru on October 16. She became the second woman to hold the position, following VS Ramadevi, who served from 1999 to 2002.

Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru administered the oath of office.

Chief Minister Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka, Legislative Council Opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and outgoing Governor Gehlot were also present.

Before the ceremony, Yadav paid floral tributes at the National Military Memorial in Bengaluru.

President Droupadi Murmu appointed Sudha Yadav as Karnataka Governor on October 12. Originally from Haryana, she has held several prominent positions in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Sudha Yadav represented Mahendragarh in the Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004 and subsequently served as the BJP’s national secretary. She headed the party’s Other Backward Classes (OBC) Morcha.

Between 2019 and 2022, Yadav served as a member of the National Commission for Backwards Classes. In August 2022, she joined the BJP Parliamentary Board, the party’s highest decision-making body.

Sudha Yadav’s meeting with PM Modi follows her recent appointment to Karnataka’s gubernatorial office.
