Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Dismisses Allegations Of Involvement In MUDA Scam

In a strong rebuttal to ongoing allegations, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah affirmed on Tuesday that he bears no responsibility for the purported Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam and firmly rejected calls for his resignation.

Speaking to the media at Ravindra Kalakshetra, he emphasized his commitment to integrity, stating, “I am working according to my conscience and there is no need for my resignation.”

When pressed about the possibility of stepping down, Siddaramaiah dismissed the notion, asserting, “Opposition parties are masters in lying. Will it be over if I tender my resignation? They are demanding my resignation unnecessarily. I have not committed any mistakes.”

Addressing accusations of money laundering, he expressed confusion over the basis for such claims.

He remarked that he doesn’t know on what grounds authorities framed money laundering charges against him.

Controversy Erupts After Parvathy’s Land Surrender To MUDA

The controversy has intensified following the surrender of land by his wife, Parvathy, to MUDA, a move that the opposition has seized upon as an admission of guilt.

Siddaramaiah clarified that he was unaware of the decision to return the land, explaining that his wife surrendered the land to MUDA out of sadness over the turn of events. He further questioned how this could compared to a confession of crime.

The Chief Minister elaborated on the circumstances surrounding the land issue, stating, “Parbathy was the owner of 3.16 acres of land. MUDA had encroached upon the land and distributed sites. Following this, she sought alternative sites or land. They had made allotments in Vijayanagara third and fourth stages.”

Siddaramaiah further indicated that the political fallout from the situation has influenced his wife’s decision to return the sites, claiming, “She decided to surrender the sites since her husband’s political image is dented by this development and politics of rivalry and hatred is pursued by opponents.”

The Chief Minister also took aim at the BJP for citing his previous statements as an opposition leader regarding former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s actions in 2011.

Siddaramaiah further asserted, “There is a difference between former CM Yediyurappa’s case and my case. I have no role in this case. Yediyurappa had denotified the land. Have I de-notified? Have I given any orders? Sent letters? Is there any money laundering? There is nothing. There is no comparison to his case.”
