Two days after the party’s disastrous performance in the assembly election, Kamal Nath is expected to meet with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday and may submit his resignation as leader of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, according to sources. According to the report, Kamal Nath’s meeting with chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday, the day following the humiliating loss, infuriated the Congress leadership.
According to the sources, the head of the Madhya Pradesh Congress is scheduled to meet with Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the party, on Tuesday. After the party’s disastrous performance in the assembly elections, he may submit his resignation.

In the Madhya Pradesh assembly election of 2023, the Congress, which had formed the government in the state under Kamal Nath’s leadership after winning 114 seats in the 2018 election, ended up gaining just 66 seats.
After the Congress Party was reduced to a minority, it fell, and the state’s new administration was created by the Bhartiya Janata Party, with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as chief minister once more.
In this November election, led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the BJP staged an incredible comeback, securing 163 seats and a two-thirds majority in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly. Dec. 3 marked the announcement of the outcomes.
According to the source, Nath is scheduled to meet with Kharge on Tuesday and may be asked to step down as head of the Congress state unit. The report further stated that the party leadership is incensed about his comments regarding seat sharing that he made against several leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, and Nitish Kumar, the leader of JD(U).

The leaders of the opposition INDIA group, which was created to challenge the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, were displeased with Nath for agreeing to the Samajwadi Party’s request for only four to six seats, while the JD(U) was only asking for one seat in Madhya Pradesh.
“We accept the mandate of Madhya Pradesh’s voters in this democratic contest,” Nath declared earlier on Sunday while speaking at a press conference during the last round of counting. We are going to play the Opposition.
The former chief minister discussed the difficulties facing the Congress as the main opposition party in the state, saying, “The youth’s future, unemployment, and farm misery are the primary obstacles we face today. Seventy percent of our state’s economy is based on agriculture. We wish to give the farm sector’s advantages top priority.”
On this particular occasion, the Congress leader congratulated the BJP on their victory in the state.
“I congratulate the Bhartiya Janata Party and hope they will fulfil the responsibilities of the people who have given them this mandate,” Nath stated.
With the exception of the 15-month period under the Kamal Nath-led administration following the Congress party’s election in 2018, Madhya Pradesh has been a BJP stronghold for the past 20 years.
