Kala Sankul Seminar In New Delhi Focuses On Preserving Indian Cultural Values In Theatre

A monthly seminar organised by Kala Sankul under Sanskar Bharati concluded successfully in New Delhi. The event took place at its venue on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg.

Scholars, artists, and theatre practitioners gathered to deliberate on sustaining Indian cultural values in dramatic writing.

Senior theatre practitioner Suman Kumar attended as the chief guest and keynote speaker. He emphasised that Indian theatre traditions form a vital component of the nation’s cultural heritage.

Suman Kumar stated that global influences and evolving trends have made it increasingly difficult to preserve cultural authenticity in contemporary scripts.

Kumar asserted that playwrights and theatre professionals must uphold cultural identity through their creative expressions. He encouraged writers to draw inspiration from folk traditions, indigenous narratives, and traditional value systems to strengthen dramatic impact.

Participants echoed similar views. They stressed that emerging playwrights must remain rooted in cultural heritage while adapting to modern storytelling techniques. They highlighted the importance of aligning creativity with tradition to maintain authenticity in theatre.

Several distinguished personalities from the fields of art, literature, and performing arts attended the session.

Bharati Dang conducted the programme, while analyst and social thinker Varun Soni served as moderator alongside the keynote speaker. Dancer Shruti Sinha delivered the vote of thanks.

Prominent attendees included Rajesh Singh, Chandana Raul, Pratibha, Akash Malik, Umashankar, Anita Chaudhary, Renu Khantwal, Bhupesh Joshi, Divakar Duve, and Praveen.

Contributors such as Garima Rani, Sneha Mukherjee, Sakshi Singh, Priyanka Paudel, Deepika Thakur, Swati Sharma, and Ritambhara Rimjhim played notable roles in ensuring the seminar’s success.

Participants collectively advocated regular discussions to strengthen cultural awareness and artistic engagement.
