JP Nadda Launches Sharp Attack: ‘No Biryani For Terrorists Anymore’

BJP national president and Rajya Sabha MP JP Nadda on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Congress, saying that there is a ‘Stark difference’ in the country’s approach against terrorism between 2004 to 2014 and 2014 to 2025.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha during a discussion on Operation Sindoor, Nadda hailed the Indian Armed Forces and underlined PM Modi’s ‘decisive leadership’ behind India’s tough stance against terror.

Highlighting the difference in approaches in two eras, the health minister said, “During UPA (2004 to 2014), India had a non-reactive approach against terror due to an indecisive government that responded to terror attacks with dossiers, not deterrence.”

He cited a series of high-casality attacks under UPA rule, including the 2005 Delhi bombings, 2006 Mumbai train blasts, 2008 Jaipur and Ahmedabad attacks, and the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11.

Congress Accused of Soft Stance on Pakistan

Slamming the Congress for a soft approach, Nadda stated that despite multiple terror strikes by Pakistan-backed terror outfits like Lasker-e-Taiba, Harkat-Ul-Jihad-al-Islami and Indian Mujahideen, the UPA government continued engaging Pakistan with trade, dialogue and increasing flight operations.

“Terrorists were served biryani while bullets kept coming from across the border,” Nadda taunted.

Nadda compared the two governments with data, India endured 7,217 terror incidents during 2004-2014, while under PM Modi, the incidents came down to 2,150 between 2014-2025.

In the UPA era, 1,060 civilians lost their lives in such incidents, while under the Modi government, civilian casualties declined to 542, a reduction of 49 per cent.

The Parliament is holding a two-day discussion on Operation Sindoor, during which speakers from the ruling party and the Opposition fiercely debated the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military strikes under Operation Sindoor.

Speaking on the subject, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated that PM Modi should issue a clarification on President Trump’s claims of mediating a ceasefire. “If PM Modi has the guts, he should say that Trump is a liar”, he said.

Senior Congress leader Gaurav Gagoi sought the government’s response on India’s loss of Aircraft during the standoff, and he also demanded clarification on the ‘tactical mistake’ that Chief of Defence Gen Anil Chauhan mentioned during an interview.
