J&K: Terrorists Shoot & Injure Non-Local Labourer In Pulwama

The victim, identified as Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh, was targeted by unidentified assailants in Batgund village.

Officials reported that Singh sustained minor injuries and promptly received treatment at a local hospital.

This shooting follows a grave attack just days earlier, where terrorists struck a camp for non-local workers employed by APCO Infrastructure in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district, resulting in the tragic deaths of seven individuals, including six labourers and a local doctor.

In the aftermath of the Gagangir attack, police have intensified their investigations.

They released CCTV footage of two foreign terrorists suspected of involvement in the assault, leading to the questioning of over 40 individuals as part of their inquiry.

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the scene to gather crucial evidence related to the incident.

In response to the recent violence, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, announced an ex gratia relief package for the victims’ families.

Additionally, APCO Infrastructure has pledged Rs 25 lakh as immediate assistance to the next of kin of those affected.

The targeted workers were however constructing a tunnel between Gagangir and Sonamarg to improve the Srinagar-Sonamarg road for year-round access.

This infrastructure project is likely to enhance local tourism and generate employment opportunities for the region’s youth.

The recent spate of violence has drawn widespread condemnation from various political figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, and J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Former Chief Ministers, including Omar Abdullah, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Ghulam Nabi Azad, have also expressed their outrage over the attacks.
