J&K Assembly Elections: Rahul Gandhi Begins Preparation With Savoring ‘Wazwan’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a break from his busy schedule to visit Ahdoo’s, a famous hotel in Srinagar since J&K Assembly elections are approaching. He wanted to enjoy the traditional Kashmiri cuisine known as ‘Wazwan.’

Gandhi surprised his large security team by heading to the bustling Residency Road area in the city. The security team had to quickly adapt to his arrival. They swiftly deployed personnel and cleared the roads to accommodate the VVIP visit. Traffic was partially diverted to Maulana Azad Road to create space for the security setup, according to a senior security officer.

Upon arriving at Ahdoo’s hotel, Gandhi joined other guests in the dining hall. Abdul Hameed, the hotel manager, shared details. Gandhi ordered a traditional Kashmiri Wazwan ‘Trami.’ The Trami included dishes such as ‘Meethi Maaz,’ ‘Tabak Maaz,’ ‘Kabab,’ and ‘Chicken.’ He also enjoyed ‘Rishta,’ ‘Rogan Josh,’ and concluded with ‘Gostaba.’

In Addition Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accompanied Gandhi. He chose vegetarian dishes, according to the manager.

Locals crowded around the hotel, eager to catch a glimpse of Gandhi. Many used their mobile phones to record the event, which created a lively scene. The security forces faced challenges managing the crowd.

After his meal, Gandhi visited the nearby ‘Erina Ice Cream parlour’ for dessert. He wrapped up his evening visit to the city center before heading back.

Gandhi and Kharge arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday evening. Their two-day visit aims to assess the party’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. They plan to meet National Conference chief Dr. Farooq Abdullah to discuss a potential alliance.

Later, Gandhi will address party workers and hold a press briefing at a local hotel. He will then travel to Jammu for additional election-related meetings. The leaders seek feedback from party workers on grassroots-level preparations for the elections, which are taking place in the UT after a decade-long gap.

It is worth mentioning that J&K Assembly elections are scheduled in late of September marking conclusion in early October.
