“Jeevan ni Mara karta’: Bharat Express MD Upendra Rai Recites Gopaldas Neeraj’s Poem at ‘Kavyanjali Samman Samaroh’

‘Kavyanjali Samman Samaroh’ was organized on Wednesday at Delhi’s Press Club of India by Mahakavi Gopaldas Neeraj Foundation Trust. Additional Solicitor General of Delhi High Court Chetan Sharma attended the program as the chief guest. Patron of the Trust and Chairman, MD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express Upendra Rai was also present in this program. Many celebrities including actors Annu Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav also attended the event.

Annu Kapoor was awarded the Gopaldas Neeraj Puraskar-2023 during the event. Veteran artist Annu Kapoor was felicitated by Bharat Express Chairman Upendra Rai by covering him with a shawl. Along with this, he also presented an amount of one lakh rupees to Annu Kapoor as prize. In this felicitation ceremony, actor Rajpal Yadav was also honored by wearing a shawl and giving him a momento.

During this felicitation ceremony organized by Gopaldas Neeraj Foundation Trust, many celebrities from different fields were also present at the Press Club of India.

Editor in chief of Bharat Express Upendra Rai said, “Since I am a journalist and in November 2022 I have completed my 25 years in my journalism carrer, I always felt and experienced that real youth is often less, as it never turns old. Its another fact for the body to be old but I have witnessed many such people whose bodies were old but their minds were young and I cannot express how much these people have influenced me and my life.” After this he narrated poet Gopal Das Neeraj’s poem “Kuch Sapno ke Mar Jane se Jeevan ni Mara karta hai” which according to him had great influence in his life.

Today is the death anniversary of Gopaldas Neeraj who is known for his songs and ghazals. Veteran lyricist gave many evergreen songs to Bollywood. He may not be in with us today, but his work in poetry, literature and film world has made him immortal. On July 19, 2018, Gopaldas Neeraj said goodbye to the world forever.

Gopaldas ‘Neeraj’ was born on 4 January 1925 in Puravli village near Maheva block of Etawah district. He was the first person to be honored twice by the Government of India in the field of education and literature. For the first time he was awarded the Padma Shri while after that he was awarded the Padma Bhushan. At the same time, he also received the Filmfare Award three times in a row for the best song writer.
