Jammu And Kashmir Police Crack Down On JeM, LeT Terror Networks

In a massive operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched an extensive crackdown on terror networks linked to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) across the Jammu region. This large-scale effort, involving simultaneous raids and searches, has resulted in the arrest of several Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and terror suspects, alongside the seizure of incriminating materials.

ADGP Anand Jain revealed during a press conference on Wednesday that 56 locations were raided in four districts.

“Raids in the Jammu region led to the arrest of several OGWs and suspects. We recovered electronic devices, documents, unaccounted cash, weapons, and ammunition,” Jain said. He further emphasized that the operation is ongoing, with future actions planned to dismantle any remaining terror elements.

Role of Public Cooperation

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Sharma highlighted the importance of public support in eliminating the terror ecosystem.
“Law enforcement agencies rely on the cooperation of citizens. Public awareness and timely reporting of suspicious activities are crucial, and we are fortunate to have strong support from the people,” Sharma said, encouraging more vigilance.

Specific Operations in Key Districts

Rajouri District

Police teams carried out searches in Darhal, Kalakote, Manjakote, and Dharamsal, acting on specific intelligence inputs. The operations aimed to locate and arrest individuals supporting terrorist outfits through logistics, recruitment, and the facilitation of arms and funds.

Poonch District

Police conducted twelve searches in Surankote, Mandi, Poonch, Mendhar, and Gursai. These operations targeted two terror-related cases, one registered at Thannamandi Police Station in 2013 and another at Rajouri Police Station this year.

Udhampur District

In Udhampur, 25 locations in Basantgarh, including areas like Rai Chak, Chaka, and Kund, were thoroughly searched.

Reasi District

In Reasi, police raided ten locations in areas like Puni, Gulabgarh, and Mahore-Chasana. These actions were tied to a case under investigation at Basantgarh Police Station.

Seizures and Outcomes

The raids resulted in significant recoveries, including electronic devices, weapons, ammunition, unaccounted cash, and critical documents. A police spokesperson stated, “The operation targeted those aiding terror networks by managing logistics, recruiting individuals, and facilitating the movement of funds and arms. These efforts disrupt the active networks linked to JeM and LeT.”

Police meticulously conducted the searches to avoid collateral damage and minimize inconvenience to innocent civilians.

Continuing the Fight Against Terror

The Jammu and Kashmir Police remain committed to rooting out terrorism from the region. With public cooperation and intelligence-driven operations, authorities are taking decisive steps to dismantle terror networks and ensure peace in the region.
