Days of the dramatic police hunt for the Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh, sources of Punjab Police said that he could be in the national capital Delhi. According to them, the radical preacher allegedly deboarded at a bus terminal in the guise of a monk on Friday.

Since that morning, the teams of Punjab Police along with Delhi Police have been present at the Inter State Bus Terminal in Kashmere Gate and have been scanning the CCTV footage in order to catch him faster.

Moreover, the Special Cell of Delhi Police along with the Punjab Police has detained a close associate of Amritpal Singh from West Delhi’s Tilak Vihar area, police sources said on Thursday.

According to the sources, the man identified as Amit Singh was detained on Tuesday from Tilak Vihar after the police received specific inputs about his whereabouts. Delhi Police assisted the Punjab Police in this operation.

The radical preacher, Amritpal Singh, accused of attempted murder obstruction of law enforcement and creating disharmony, had been on the run since Saturday when officers tried to block his motorcade and arrest him.

Amritpal’s escape plan till now…

On Friday, the police officials said that the fugitive separatist, Amritpal Singh has changed five vehicles in 12 hours to escape arrest.

On the first day of the police crackdown on him and his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’ – a radical organization started by actor and activist Deep Sidhu – he was first seen in a Mercedes before switching to a Maruti Brezza SUV. He was later seen riding a pillion on a bike wearing a pink turban and black goggles, suggesting that he tried to change his appearance to get away from the eyes of the police.

Recently, the police have released almost seven photographs of the Khalistani leader including some in which he is not wearing a turban, in order to seek public help in catching the fugitive.

In recent months, the Khalistani leader, Amritpal Singh rose to prominence after he and his supporters, armed with swords, knives and guns raided a police station last month after one of the preacher’s aides was arrested for alleged assault and attempted kidnapping.

Several policemen were injured in the brazen daytime raid on the outskirts of Amritsar, heaping pressure on authorities to act.
