IRCTC Gears Up For Maha Kumbh 2025 With Luxury Tent City & Special Trains

As preparations for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 gain momentum, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is rolling out world-class facilities for millions of devotees likely to attend the grand event.

An official release states that this involves shelter arrangements for over 1 lakh passengers and the deployment of around 3,000 special fair trains.

Maha Kumbh Gram: The Luxury Tent City

A key highlight is the luxury tent city, ‘Maha Kumbh Gram, constructed near the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.

Located in Sector 25 of Naini, Arail, just 3.5 km from the Sangam, this tent city offers premium accommodations, including super deluxe tents and villas, equipped with modern amenities such as private bathrooms, hot water, air blowers, and dining services.

The tents will be available for rent at Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000 per day, offering amenities like private bathrooms, hot and cold water, air blowers, bed linens, towels, and food services. Villa guests will also enjoy a private seating area and a television.

Online bookings for stays at Maha Kumbh Gram are open from 10 January to 28 February.

Reservations can be made on the IRCTC website, with more details provided on the IRCTC, Tourism Department websites, and the Maha Kumbh App.

Deluxe Dormitory Facilities

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans for a 300-bed deluxe dormitory to further enhance lodging facilities in the Maha Kumbh area.

Managed by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), the dormitory will consist of 50 tents categorized as follows:

  • 20 tents with 4 beds each,
  • 10 tents with 6 beds each, and
  • 20 tents with 8 beds each

The tent cities aim to provide comfortable accommodations for international tourists, VIPs, and pilgrims alike.

Additionally, the tent cities will offer world-class facilities for tourists and pilgrims, ensuring a comfortable and memorable Maha Kumbh experience.

Deluxe tents in the Maha Kumbh Mela area will provide premium amenities such as air conditioning, double beds with mattresses, sofa sets, customized interiors, writing desks, geysers, fire extinguishers, quilts, blankets, mosquito nets, Wi-Fi, dining areas, common sitting areas, waiting lounges, and meeting lounges. Guests will also enjoy tranquil river views, adding to the immersive experience.

Guided by the Yogi government, Maha Kumbh 2025 will celebrate India’s cultural diversity from 10 January to 24 February.

The Uttar Pradesh Culture Department is preparing to showcase the country’s vibrant folk arts during this period, according to a press release.

As part of the festivities, the Culture Department will install 20 small stages at prominent locations across Prayagraj. These stages will host performances of traditional folk dances from various Indian states, offering tourists, devotees, and locals a rich cultural experience for 45 days.
