India stands united in grief following the passing of Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, who died at Breach Candy Hospital due to age-related health issues, with tributes from leaders across the political spectrum emphasizing Tata’s profound impact on the nation, seamlessly blending corporate growth with social responsibility
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow, reminiscing about his many interactions with Tata.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness and an unwavering commitment to making our society better.”
“One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his passion towards dreaming big and giving back. He was at the forefront of championing causes like education, healthcare, sanitation, animal welfare to name a few,” PM Modi stated.
The Prime Minister further asserted, “My mind is filled with countless interactions with Shri Ratan Tata Ji. I would meet him frequently in Gujarat when I was the CM. We would exchange views on diverse issues. I found his perspectives very enriching. These interactions continued when I came to Delhi. Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
President Droupadi Murmu also weighed in, calling Ratan Tata an icon who seamlessly merged corporate success with nation-building.
In her tribute, President Murmu posted, “In the sad demise of Shri Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon who blended corporate growth with nation building, and excellence with ethics. A recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, he took forward the great Tata legacy and gave it a more impressive global presence.”
“He inspired seasoned professionals and young students alike. His contribution to philanthropy and charity is invaluable. I convey my condolences to his family, the entire team of the Tata Group and his admirers across the globe,” President Murmu further asserted.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also expressed his deep pain over Tata’s demise, noting the industrialist’s commitment to a self-reliant Bharat.
“A man of deep commitment and compassion, his philanthropic contributions and the humility he embodied aptly reflect the ethos he embraced. As ‘the legend’ of indian industry leaves behind a lasting legacy, Bharat would miss him very dearly. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, admirers and to the entire Tata Group in this hour of grief. Om Shanti,” Dhankhar remarked on X.
The Tata Group’s current Chairman, N Chandrasekaran, shared a heartfelt tribute, stating, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”
He further added that Ratan Tata was more than a chairperson; he was a mentor, guide, and friend who inspired excellence and integrity within the company.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also conveyed his condolences, stating, “India has today lost a great industrialist and philanthropist who not only elevated the Indian industry to new heights but also inspired every section of society through his selfless service and generosity.”
“The simplicity, foresight, and spirit of service of Shri Ratan Tata will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come. His passing is an irreplaceable loss for the country. May God grant peace to the departed soul,” he further asserted.
As the nation mourns this immense loss, Ratan Tata’s legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire generations to come, echoing the values of integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the greater good.
