India Sends Ninth Relief Flight To Flood-Hit Nepal With 11 Tonnes Of Essential Supplies

India continued its relief support for flood-hit Nepal on Saturday. The ninth Indian Air Force flight carrying 11 tonnes of essential material arrived in Kathmandu from New Delhi.

The supplies included tents, medicines, sleeping bags, hygiene kits and forensic equipment. Indian authorities handed the material to the Government of Nepal as recovery efforts continued after the devastating August 26 floods.

“India’s support to Nepal’s recovery efforts continues: The 9th Indian Air Force (IAF) flight with 11 tonnes of material, including tents, medicines, sleeping bags and forensic supplies, arrived in Kathmandu and were handed over to the Government of Nepal,” Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava stated on X.

The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated India’s commitment to Nepal’s recovery.

“India’s relief assistance has reached Nepal. An additional 11 tonnes of essential supplies, including medicines, forensic supplies, tents, hygiene kits and sleeping bags, have been handed over to the Nepali side. India remains committed to supporting Nepal’s recovery,” the MEA stated on X.

On Friday, Nepal Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle thanked India for its rescue and relief assistance following the flash floods in Rasuwa. He met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi.

The two ministers discussed strengthening Nepal-India cooperation, particularly in investment, energy and connectivity, according to the Embassy of Nepal in India.

Last week, India’s eighth relief flight delivered tunnel rescue equipment and forensic supplies. Nepal’s Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Mahabir Pun received the material.

India has deployed relief supplies, specialised equipment and expert personnel through nine special flights since August 26.
