India on Friday delivered a 2.5-tonne consignment of urgent medical supplies to Afghanistan, aiding treatment for victims injured in recent airstrikes on Kabul. The shipment included essential medicines, disposables, and critical healthcare equipment.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed India’s commitment to humanitarian assistance during this crisis. He stated that India stands firmly with the Afghan people and will continue extending necessary support.
The assistance follows a devastating strike reportedly carried out by Pakistan, targeting the 2,000-bed Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul’s Pul-e-Charkhi district. The attack claimed over 400 lives and left more than 250 individuals injured.
India sharply criticised the assault, describing it as a barbaric and indefensible act.
The MEA asserted that targeting a hospital cannot be justified under any military pretext. It accused Pakistan of attempting to portray a massacre as a strategic operation.
India characterised the strike as a grave violation of Afghan sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. It further highlighted a recurring pattern of reckless conduct by Islamabad, alleging efforts to deflect internal challenges through external aggression.
The Ministry underscored that the attack during Ramadan makes it even more deplorable, given the period’s spiritual significance.
India urged the global community to ensure accountability and prevent further civilian targeting.
Extending condolences, India expressed solidarity with affected families and reiterated unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
