India Observes Republic Day with Nationwide Celebrations

On the 75th Republic Day, India witnessed vibrant celebrations marked by the unfurling of the tricolour and colourful parades across the country. Various states took the opportunity to showcase their achievements and outline their developmental goals, with governors and chief ministers extending their greetings to the nation.

Addressing a Republic Day function in Jammu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. He spoke about ongoing efforts to eliminate the “unholy proxy war sponsored by a neighboring country” and reiterated the commitment to holding elections for panchayats and urban local bodies.

In Kashmir, Republic Day was celebrated amid tight security, with functions held across district headquarters. In Delhi, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena highlighted sustained efforts by the central and city governments to develop the national capital into a global and inclusive city. He underscored achievements in public transport, health, power sector, and ration supply, emphasizing the commitment to prioritize health services.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while unfurling the national flag in Ludhiana, criticized the Centre for not including the state’s tableau in the Republic Day parade. He emphasized Punjab’s significant contributions and addressed the challenges posed by the border with Pakistan, including issues like drones, drugs, and weapons.

In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called upon citizens to contribute towards realizing the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ He highlighted the inclusive benefits of welfare schemes during the Modi government’s tenure and focused on empowering women through initiatives like the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ and the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana.’

Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, at a Republic Day function in Guwahati, mentioned the peace accords signed last year, positioning the state on the path of development. He also highlighted progress in resolving boundary disputes with neighboring states.

In Tripura, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu discussed efforts to increase farmers’ income and boost tourism. The state has credited funds to farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme and brought them under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, while also focusing on revamping the tourism sector.

Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan, addressing a gathering in Ranchi, emphasized good governance and social justice as crucial pillars. He highlighted the state government’s focus on agriculture, renovating irrigation schemes, and empowering various sections of society.

Bihar Governor Rajendra V Arlekar, speaking at a Republic Day function in Patna, reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing 10 lakh jobs to youths. He outlined ongoing efforts and the creation of additional posts to achieve this goal.

Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, urged citizens to unite for a new and strong Maharashtra. He emphasized the state government’s prioritization of farmers’ interests and highlighted compensation provided to farmers facing challenges in the kharif season.

In Tamil Nadu, Republic Day celebrations included a march past by armed forces and state police, along with cultural events. Governor R N Ravi and Chief Minister M K Stalin attended the main function, where Stalin presented an award for promoting communal harmony to fact-checker Mohammed Zubair.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy celebrated Republic Day by unfurling the tricolour at his residence and paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and B R Ambedkar. Later, he honored war heroes at the Veerula Sainik memorial in Hyderabad.
