India & Germany Strengthen Ties With Key MoUs On Technology, Energy & Trade

India and Germany on Monday signed several key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The agreements strengthen cooperation in technology, renewable energy, climate action, urban development, and mobility, underscoring the countries’ shared priorities.

Addressing a joint press conference, PM Modi noted that bilateral trade between India and Germany has crossed the $50 billion mark, reaching its highest level to date.

He highlighted that over 2,000 German companies maintain a strong presence in India, reflecting confidence in the country and its business opportunities.

PM Modi emphasised growing technology cooperation, visible in joint projects and investments.

To further support innovation, the India-Germany Centre of Excellence will be established as a platform for knowledge sharing and technological collaboration.

The leaders also announced a new mega green hydrogen project, aimed at transforming the future of energy.

Both nations agreed to deepen ties in education and sports. PM Modi invited German universities to open campuses in India and highlighted how sports can connect young people from both countries.

Chancellor Merz underscored the importance of a future India-EU free trade agreement to unlock the full potential of economic cooperation.

The MoUs and initiatives signal a strengthened India-Germany strategic partnership, promoting trade, innovation, renewable energy, and people-to-people connections, while laying the foundation for sustainable and long-term collaboration.
