India and France continued to strengthen their strategic alignment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Emmanuel Bonne, Diplomatic Advisor to French President Emmanuel Macron, in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The interaction reaffirmed the growing depth of bilateral relations and highlighted the expanding scope of cooperation across innovation, technology, and education.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction with the direction of ties between the two countries.
He emphasised that the India-France Strategic Partnership now extends beyond traditional domains and increasingly focuses on future-oriented sectors.
PM Modi noted that collaboration in innovation and advanced technologies has gained particular significance as both nations observe the India-France Year of Innovation.
The Prime Minister also stated that the two sides exchanged views on key regional and global developments.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed the sustained dialogue between New Delhi and Paris. He expressed optimism about President Emmanuel Macron’s forthcoming visit to India, which both sides see as a catalyst for deeper strategic engagement.
Bonne met Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the 38th India-France Strategic Dialogue took place earlier in the day. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the French official co-chaired the dialogue.
The dialogue reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and reinforced mutual trust in sensitive areas such as defence, security, and strategic technologies.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the discussions covered defence collaboration, space cooperation, civil nuclear energy, and emerging technologies.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to joint development and innovation, aligned with India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Officials stressed that such cooperation strengthens industrial capabilities while fostering technological self-reliance.
Participants assessed the evolving geopolitical environment and emphasised the need for close coordination to tackle emerging global security challenges.
India and France reaffirmed their shared responsibility to promote peace, stability, and a rules-based international order.
During his visit, Bonne also held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, reflecting sustained high-level political engagement.
Analysts describe the India-France Strategic Dialogue as a cornerstone of Indo-Pacific cooperation. They say deeper collaboration in defence, counter-terrorism, space, nuclear energy, and advanced technologies will strengthen strategic autonomy.
Analysts add that such cooperation will promote long-term regional and global stability.
