Thiruvananthapuram: Prakash Javadekar, senior BJP leader and party’s Kerala in-charge, said on Sunday that the saffron party believes it would create a permanent impact in state politics in the LS polls, but the LDF and UDF are parties of the past with nothing to offer.
A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections, according to which Kerala will vote on April 26, Javadekar met with the media here and stated that the “churning in the minds of the voters” in the state is visible and will translate into significant gains for the BJP. He said that the Left Democratic Front, led by the CPI(M), and the United Democratic Front, led by the Congress, had no future in Kerala.
“We (the BJP) will permanently change Kerala politics with this election. A significant churning in the psyche of Kerala voters is evident. In 2019, people were led to believe Rahul Gandhi will become Prime Minister. This time, everyone, even Congress leaders, is certain that he has no chance of becoming Prime Minister,” Javadekar said.
BJP has yet to open an account in Kerala. According to the ECI website, the saffron party received less than 12% of the vote in the state’s 2021 assembly elections.
Javadekar referred to the UDF and LDF constituents as “party of the past” and stated, “In Kerala, they are playing a sham war. They are effectively allies in all other states, and they are tactically aligned in Kerala as well.”
He asserted that neither the LDF nor the UDF had anything fresh to contribute. He described the 18th Lok Sabha election as a “pro-incumbency election” and stated that the BJP is running on a constructive development program. “The BJP, together with its allies in the NDA, is campaigning on a positive platform of growth and performance. This election favors incumbents. We have an unparalleled leader in Narendra Modi,” Javadekar stated.

Listing the national government’s developmental achievements, Javadekar said that the party will win over 370 Lok Sabha seats on its own, and that the NDA front would win more than 400 seats in total.
