In Special Gesture, Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sees-Off PM Modi At Airport After Conclusion Of Historic Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his two-day visit to Kuwait on Sunday evening. In a special gesture, Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah personally saw off PM Modi at the airport. The visit marked the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years, significantly enhancing bilateral relations.

Before departing, PM Modi expressed gratitude to Kuwait’s leadership and people. “This visit was historic and will greatly enhance our bilateral relations. I thank the Government and people of Kuwait for their warmth and hospitality,” he posted on X.

Strengthening India-Kuwait Strategic Partnership

During his visit, PM Modi held extensive talks with Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The leaders discussed a roadmap to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, defence, and technology. They exchanged key agreements, including an MoU on defence cooperation and Kuwait’s inclusion in the International Solar Alliance. The talks emphasized deepening economic ties and setting up new Joint Working Groups in multiple sectors.

PM Modi invited a Kuwaiti delegation to explore investment opportunities in India, focusing on energy, defence, and food parks. The Amir of Kuwait praised the Indian community’s contribution to Kuwait’s development and expressed appreciation for India’s growing global role.

Honors and Bilateral Milestones

The Amir conferred the prestigious ‘Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer’ on PM Modi, recognizing the strong India-Kuwait relationship. PM Modi dedicated the honor to the friendship between the two nations and the Indian community in Kuwait.

Both sides elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, reflecting the shared commitment to cooperation. The leaders also celebrated the signing of a cultural exchange programme and initiatives aligned with Kuwait’s Vision 2035.

PM Modi concluded his visit by expressing optimism about the future of India-Kuwait relations. He emphasized that the growing partnership will benefit both nations and contribute to regional stability.
