Pakistan forces martyred two Indian armed forces personnel, an Indian Air Force (IAF) sergeant and a Border Security Force (BSF) sub-inspector, in the last 24 hours amid intensified cross-border firing and drone attacks in the Jammu region.
Seven other BSF personnel sustained injuries during the hostilities.
Sergeant Surendra Kumar Moga, a 36-year-old medical assistant with the IAF’s 36 Wing, lost his life in a Pakistani strike at the Udhampur airbase early Saturday morning.
Moga, originally posted in Bengaluru, had been redeployed to Udhampur only four days ago due to the rising tensions along the border.
District officials from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, Moga’s hometown, confirmed the news to his family in Mehradasi village.
His mother, Nanu Devi (65), wife Seema, and two children survive him.
District Collector Ramavatar Meena stated, “He was posted at the 39th Wing of the IAF. Upon receiving the information, Superintendent of Police Sharad Chaudhary and I visited his family and assured them of all necessary support.”
Authorities expect Moga’s mortal remains to reach Jhunjhunu by Sunday evening, and they are preparing for a state funeral.
Pakistani forces martyred Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imtiaz when they targeted his BSF unit along the International Border in the RS Pura sector.
Pakistani shelling injured seven other BSF personnel.
A BSF official confirmed, “Imtiaz succumbed to his injuries, while the remaining injured are stable and receiving treatment at a nearby medical facility.”
Pakistani forces also killed two other Indian Army soldiers in related incidents.
The violence came just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire mediated by the United States.
At 5 PM IST, both countries had agreed to halt all military operations across land, air, and sea following a conversation between their respective Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs).
However, Pakistan violated the agreement by resuming shelling and deploying drones across the border soon after the ceasefire took effect.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a special briefing late Saturday, confirmed that Pakistan had breached the understanding.
He stated, “India takes very serious note of these violations. Our armed forces have been instructed to respond firmly and decisively to any further provocation.”
He added, “This aggression is highly condemnable, and Pakistan must understand the gravity of the situation. We expect immediate and appropriate action from Pakistan to stop these intrusions.”
The Indian Army remains on high alert and is conducting retaliatory operations along both the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and preparing to implement strong measures to protect national sovereignty.
