‘How Long Should We Wait?’: Bihar Teacher Aspirants Flood Patna Over TRE 4.0 Delay

A large-scale protest by teacher recruitment aspirants rocked Patna on Friday as thousands of candidates demanded the release of the long-pending Teachers Recruitment Examination-4 (TRE) 4.0 notification by the Bihar Public Service Commission.

The demonstration escalated into chaos near JP Golambar after police carried out a baton charge while attempting to disperse the crowd.

According to reports, several protesters sustained injuries during the confrontation. Videos from the area showed students running through nearby lanes as police tried to control the gathering.

The agitation began with a march from Patna College towards the BPSC office. Candidates sought immediate clarification regarding the Teachers Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0 advertisement.

Officials estimated that nearly 5,000 aspirants took part in the protest.

The students accused the commission of repeatedly postponing the recruitment process and creating uncertainty over the examination schedule.

One of the protesting student leaders, Dilip Kumar, claimed that over 13 lakh candidates preparing for the examination were being kept in confusion because of the delay.

Protesters said they had earlier been informed that the recruitment advertisement would likely be issued in April and the application process would begin shortly afterwards.

Despite repeated expectations, the official notification has still not been released.

As frustration grew, groups of students attempted to block roads and raise slogans demanding immediate action from the commission.

The upcoming TRE-4 drive will likely fill nearly 46,882 teaching positions across several state departments.

A major share of the vacancies is linked to the Education Department. The openings include posts in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools across Bihar.

The recruitment process is drawing close attention because of the large number of vacancies. A significant number of candidates across the state are also preparing for the examination.
