Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday warned that hostile nations are attempting to weaken India by pushing drugs into the country and targeting its youth, describing the illegal narcotics trade as part of a broader ‘terror agenda’.
Speaking during the launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ through video conferencing, PM Modi urged young Indians to stay away from addiction and play a leading role in building Viksit Bharat 2047.
Addressing the nationwide campaign, PM Modi said drug addiction destroys not only an individual’s future but also weakens the nation’s strength. He alleged that hostile forces profit from the illegal drug trade while using it to damage countries like India, making it essential to protect every young person from substance abuse.
Warning against the long-term consequences of addiction, the Prime Minister said drugs may offer temporary pleasure but ultimately destroy families and lives.
PM Modi urged young people to stay away from drugs and use their energy and talent to build Viksit Bharat 2047, calling them India’s ‘Amrit Peedhi’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the next 100 Sundays would drive the campaign through awareness programmes, sports and community activities, while 125 spiritual organisations continue implementing the Kashi Declaration for a drug-free India. He urged families to seek timely professional help and called on parents and teachers to recognise early signs of addiction and raise awareness about its dangers.
